Town of Pelham receives just under $447,000 in COVID-19 relief funding
As part of the federal-provincial Safe Restart Agreement with municipalities, Pelham will receive just under $447,000 in the first round of funding. You can read the provincial announcement here.
The funding offsets the various financial impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, including program revenues, advertising, cleaning, safety, and more.
The funding, in part includes transit, breaks down to $428,500 for the municipality and $18,344 for transit. Town staff estimate that lost revenue due to the pandemic would be $669,336 by Dec. 31, leaving a remaining $222,492 unfunded.
Pelham will apply for a second round of relief funding before the end of October.
Municipal operations within town have resumed on a modified basis. Town Hall is open to the public by appointment only and the Meridian Community Centre welcomes users for pre-registered ice and gym rentals, as well as camps. The Pelham is pool is open for registered users.
