Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham is moving forward with modernization reviews and programs thanks to a grant from the third intake of the Government of Ontario’s Municipal Modernization Program.
"Support for modernization within the municipality has a long-term positive impact for Pelham residents," said Teresa Quinlin-Murphy, Director of Corporate Services and Treasurer for the Town of Pelham. “An opportunity to digitize and have third party reviews assists in providing additional efficiencies for staff and benchmarks to continue to provide more convenient levels of service for the community."
The provincial funding under the implementation project stream will provide $217,283 support towards the Town of Pelham Corporate Services digital modernization and $71,502 for the digital modernization of the Human Resources system. An additional $71,232 will provide support under the third-party review stream, which will focus all funding on an independent third-party review with specific recommendations for cost-savings and efficiencies for the Town of Pelham Recreation, Culture and Wellness and Community Centre Operations.
The Town of Pelham has been successful in receiving funding from the Municipal Modernization Program in all three intakes for a combined total of $771,835 to support 10 different projects.
The Municipal Modernization Program, launched in 2019, helps small and rural municipalities modernize service delivery for residents and aims to identify additional ways for municipalities to be more efficient and effective. Ontario has committed up to $125 million over four years through the Municipal Modernization Program to help small and rural municipalities modernize services.
