Town of Pelham extends burn permits from 2019

Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham Fire Department is extending 2019 burn permits into the 2020 season as part of measures to mitigate disruptions in the community during COVID-19 (Coronavirus). 

As warm weather approaches and residents practice social distancing and self-isolation, the Town recognizes the desire for residents to get out and enjoy the fresh air in a responsible manner. Even in your backyards, social distancing is still encouraged. 

With Town offices closed to the public and 2020 permits therefore unavailable for purchase, those with permits from 2019 are permitted to open-air burn.

“We understand that people are already feeling a bit claustrophobic in their homes, and we hope this will help,” said Fire Chief Bob Lymburner. “We want people to practice social distancing and self-isolation during, so this is just one way we, as a municipality, can help our residents adjust to these unprecedented times.”

At no time is burning allowed of household waste, construction debris, plastic, rubber, or any other product which may damage the air, ground, or water quality of the community. Residents are reminded to be respectful and mindful of
