Town of Pelham declares a Significant Weather Event with extended impact to Sidewalk Network.

Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham has declared a significant weather event as a result of the snowfall received from February 3 to 4, 2022. Snowfall received during this time have accumulations of 20+ cm and snow clearing has been impacted. The removal of snow from the 64km+ Town of Pelham sidewalk network will require the extended time of several days due to the volume.

As per Regulation 239/02 of the Municipal Act 2001, The Town of Pelham is declaring a significant weather event impacting all roads and sidewalks within the Pelham boundaries, due to the current snow levels.

This declaration of a significant weather event is to notify the public that due to the current conditions; caution is to be observed when travelling on roads and sidewalks maintained by the Town of Pelham. It will take longer than usual for sidewalks to return to optimal conditions.

The Town of Pelham would like to remind residents:

  • When removing snow from driveways, do not pile snow onto the roadways and sidewalks
  • Town of Pelham hired contractors will continue to clear sidewalks using snow blowers and anticipate work to continue into the weekend
  • Winter parking restrictions are in effect. Please keep cars parked in driveways during this event and after the snow stops, so as not to impede snow plowing operations.
  • Garbage and recycling bins are kept 2 meters back into driveways so that they are not hit or knocked over by the plowing operations as plows must maintain roadway width.  
  • Blowing and drifting snow can impact rural areas, please be cautious when travelling in these areas.
