Street sweeping in Pelham begins
Street sweeping is set to begin in Pelham shortly and will be completed by approximately April 29, 2018. Residents are asked to please NOT park on streets during sweeping operations.
When: April 9-28. 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and during portions of the weekend, dependent on weather conditions. Heavy rains may cause some delays.
What: Sweepers will make 2 passes down each lane with the mechanical sweeper and then a second pass with the vacuum sweeper for the finer debris/material. Please expect some delay between passes and remember the sweepers must empty their hoppers, refill with water, or stop for a break from time to time. They will return to finish your street. If the sweeper has had to maneuver around a parked car, the operator will attempt to return to the area at a later date to complete the street.
Why: Public safety is a primary concern and street sweeping lessens the opportunity for skids and collisions. Regular street sweeping also reduces the likelihood of pollutants making it into our stormwater systems and harming fish or wildlife. It also reduces the chances of flooding in the event of heavy rainfall as it helps to keep the gutters and drains clear.
