Issued Jan. 24, 2020

Significant rainfall likely tonight.

Rain is expected to begin late this afternoon or early this evening and then taper off or change to snow Saturday morning or afternoon. Total rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm are expected.

The frozen ground and thin snowpack will have a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Local ponding on streets is possible, especially where storm drains are covered in snow or ice.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.

Town staff are out clearing catchbasins and drains to reduce the likelihood of flooding. Homeowners are encouraged to take steps to protect their property by keeping their drains, down spouts and window wells clear of debris. People can also help prevent road flooding by ensuring catchbasins and driveway culverts are clear by removing leaves, newspapers and litter.

Whether it's rain, snow, or any major weather event, it's always a good idea to brush up on your emergency preparedness  - check out the Town's 72-hour guide.
