Press release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 17, 2022

Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham’s award-winning Christmas in Pelham event returns this year with a host of activities until December 24, 2022.

The Outdoor Market, one of the signature elements of Christmas in Pelham, will be held at Pelham Town Square on Friday, December 2, from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The licensed evening event will showcase local area entertainment, local artisans, festive food, children’s crafts and the iconic visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus. In addition to the Outdoor Market, the Fabulous Fenwick Lions will host the 25th annual Santa Claus parade which travels through downtown Fenwick beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 10.

“Pelham’s annual holiday festivities are a great opportunity for the community to enjoy time with neighbours, family and friends,” said Mayor Marvin Junkin.

Returning this year is the hybrid digital scavenger hunt, with the Reindeer Games, which uses the GooseChase platform to release holiday-inspired challenges. The Reindeer Games will run from December 1 to 12, with participants completing daily tasks for a chance to win prizes. Throughout the 12 days the challenges will encourage residents to showcase their favourite holiday gifts and traditions.

Christmas in Pelham also includes the annual house decorating contest and self-guided light tour. Residents and local businesses are encouraged to participate by decorating for the holiday. A listing of participating homes and business locations will be compiled into a driving route beginning December 13. This year, letters to Santa will continue, with the official Santa mailbox available for drop-offs at the Meridian Community Centre until Friday, December 16, 2022. The event lineup also features winter workshops, a name the snow plow competition, public skates, other Pelham area community events and the popular Santa’s Workshop.

An online listing of local area businesses is available for those looking for inspiration for their holiday shopping lists.

The Christmas in Pelham event is supported in part by Niagara Region Economic Development. For more information, visit www.pelham.ca/christmas
