Police Services Board to hold meeting at the Town of Pelham

press release text

From Niagara Regional Police Services

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Services Board is set to hold its regularly scheduled meeting on October 24, 2019 at 8:30 AM in the Town of Pelham, located at the Town Municipal Office - Council Chambers, 20 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill, Ontario.  The doors are open to the public at 8:15 am.

In order to promote community awareness of the role of the Board and for Board members to stay in touch with community concerns over policing issues, the Board decided to be proactive in engaging, educating and hearing from the public by holding at least two off-site meetings a year as part of its regularly scheduled meetings.  Members of the public, Council members, and community groups in the Pelham and Fonthill area are invited to attend and speak with the members of the Police Services Board, the Chief of Police and senior police staff.

Pelham Mayor Marvin Junkin welcomes the Police Services Board to the Town of Pelham and is pleased to host its upcoming meeting. "We look forward to welcoming the Police Services Board to Pelham and having them meet with Pelham residents and community groups," said Mayor Junkin.  "Our residents contact Council on a regular basis about issues they'd like addressed; this meeting gives them an opportunity to discuss those concerns directly with law enforcement."

Police Services Board Chair Ken Gansel said, "The Board recognizes the importance of actively reaching out to our local communities and residents to engage the community on policing matters." Chair Gansel added, "There will be a public presentation from the Niagara Regional Police Service about local community safety issues and members of the community are encouraged to attend and exchange dialogue at this meeting."

Copies of the Public Meeting Agenda are available on Tuesday, October 22nd on the Niagara Regional Police Service website at www.niagarapolice.ca under Police Services Board; Agenda, or from the Board office, and limited copies will be available at the meeting.
