Pitch In Week just around the corner

As rules and regulations around COVID-19 changed, the Town of Pelham has adjusted event and community initiatives dates to ensure that all current health and safety precautions are taken when engaging with the community.

The previously scheduled Pitch In Week, initially taking place during April, is ramping up once again, with the event now running from June 19-25.

Pitch in Week is a week-long community cleanup program that helps keep public places in Pelham neighbourhoods clean and safe for everyone. This program provides all the tools needed to run a cleanup, including gloves, masks, recycling bags, and specially marked garbage bags.

The program helps keep public spaces in neighbourhoods clean and safe for everyone. Residents are invited to work with their households to tackle parks, trails, streets or parking lots, removing debris and garbage and helping beautify these spaces.

As a thank you to all volunteers for participating, the Fabulous Fenwick Lions have graciously donated a $5 off coupon for their Friday Fish Fry's; make sure to register to get your fish fry coupon. A limited quantity is available.

Before you begin:

  • Assess the area, look out for hazards and potential dangers
  • Be prepared, be safe, bring proper safety equipment and tools
  • Be sure to have enough supervisors in your group
  • Be prepared to sort items for garbage and recycling
  • Arrange disposal

During your clean up:

  • Supervise participants closely, do not let children go off alone
  • do not pick up dangerous items
  • watch for cars and be careful near roads
  • Don't carry heavy items alone
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds

COVID-19 Safety Tips:

  • Wear a mask when in groups of high-volume public spaces
  • Be sure to use gloves or a litter picker to reduce the risk of injury of infectious disease transmission
  • Maintain social distancing at least 6 feet apart
  • Do not participate in group activities if you feel unwell, have travelled outside the country within 14 days, or been in contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19
