Pelham's Family Day events go virtual
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 3, 2020
Pelham, ON –The Town of Pelham will be offering this year’s Family Day events virtually, complying with provincial orders and adhering to public health best practices and advice.
From Feb. 12-15, the Town will utilize the GooseChase app, challenging families in a fun, entertaining manner. Participants will complete tasks that may include submitting a photo or video or solving riddles or puzzles. Participants earn points by completing missions.
“We’ve had to rethink how we can create a family-friendly experience for Family Day this year,” said Jodi Shishkov, culture and community enhancement programmer. “Going virtual means families can still have fun while staying safe. We hope families participate and have fun with the tasks they complete. It’s a great way to spend time together.”
Participants have the opportunity to win one of three prizes, including a family night dinner combo from event sponsor Peter Piper’s. Peter Piper’s has sponsored Family Day events in Pelham since its inception. There will also be two Pelham Bucks prizes. Town staff will review submissions, and once complete, winners will be announced on February 16. A highlight reel of the best submissions will be made available and promoted on the Town’s social media feeds.
The community expo component of Family Day is the virtual scavenger hunt. To participate, Community Groups or Organizations are asked to submit a “mission,” which can be a trivia question or scavenger hunt mission that would have the community learn something about their group/organization through a fun activity. The submission deadline is February 5.
