Pelham medical centre moving forward

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 23, 2018

Pelham, ON– A much-needed, much-anticipated health and medical centre in Pelham is one step closer to reality.

The Town has signed an agreement to sell nearly two acres of land in East Fonthill to a team led by Christina Dobsi of Dobsi Medical and David Kompson, a long-time developer in the Niagara Region, and working with Greg Chew of Collier’s International.

The development group anticipates 20,000 to 35,000 square feet of Class “A” space to accommodate medical and health and wellness professionals, along with some retail. This will include eight-to-10 physicians with various specialties.

“This medical centre will enhance the quality of life for all our residents,” said Mayor Dave Augustyn. “Improving our community by bringing these much-needed services is part of Council’s vision and we’re excited to complement Fonthill in ways that benefit the entire community.”

The group believes the synergies created by the centre will benefit residents, patients, and practitioners and currently has a portion of the building under lease by a variety of top allied medical professionals. Inquiries for services such as dental, aesthetics, and therapy are being accepted.

“Pelham continues to experience smart and steady population growth and the demand for this beautiful area shows no signs of abating,” Dobsi stated.  “We see this project as one that delivers a professional health and medical hub that will draw family physicians, medical specialists, and other health-related services to the community. We’ll be accommodating top providers of all health, medical and wellness services within one beautiful legacy building.”

Plans call for the medical centre to be completed by summer 2019. A new website about the development will soon launch at www.pelhammedicalhub.com.

The medical centre completes another part of the vision for East Fonthill, which includes the Meridian Community Centre, Wellspring Niagara Cancer Support Centre, and Parkhill’s affordable seniors housing as community-centered services for the residents and visitors of Pelham.
