Pelham arches to return thanks to Rotary and Summerfest

Arches 6

The arches are returning to Pelham Town Square.

At last night’s meeting, Council voted in favor of endorsing the Rotary Club of Fonthill and Pelham Summerfest’s proposal to rebuild the arches; a decision not likely made if not for the fully- and self-funded construction and maintenance model put forth by the groups.

Rotary and Summerfest came to Council in mid-April, outlining their vision, fundraising plan, and desire to rebuild the arches that stood over Pelham Town Square for nearly the last decade. The arches were removed this spring as a result of damage from a wind storm.

Council, after hearing the initial proposal, ensured the community had an opportunity to bring other ideas forward for a Pelham Town Square feature – none came – and allowed for a several week span for ideas to be submitted.

Since news made the rounds about the arches reconstruction community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

As information about the arches reconstruction becomes available, the Town will share it on its website and social media channels.
