Notice of Class Environmental Assessment: Pelham Elevated Tank
From Niagara Region
Pelham Elevated Tank Class Municipal Environmental Assessment and Enhanced Conceptual Design
Niagara Region is undertaking a Class Environmental Assessment for a new Pelham elevated water storage tank and transmission system upgrades.
Niagara Region recently updated its Water and Wastewater Master Servicing Plan, and this project is part of the recommended improvements to the Pelham water system. The purpose of the study is to address adequate storage, pressure, and capacity to support growth.
The study will follow the Schedule ‘B’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process as set out by the Municipal Engineers Association (October 2000 amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015).
Niagara Region will be considering and evaluating suitable sites within the Town of Pelham for the construction of a new elevated water storage tank. The Region will look at the existing water system to identify any necessary improvements and impacts that the construction of the tank may have on all potential sites.
Public Information Centre
Public consultation is critical to the success of the study. We welcome your comments and will provide opportunities for your input throughout the study. There will be a public information centre scheduled for fall 2019 to share information, obtain your input and respond to questions. Further details on the upcoming public information centre will be provided as the project progresses. The project is planned to be completed in February 2020.
