News and notes for Election Day (October 22, 2018)

voter

Monday, October 22, 2018, is Election Day. Here is a quick snapshot of this year's election.

ADVANCED POLLS

Many Pelham residents have attended one of the four advanced polling stations held in the weeks leading up to the election. In fact, over 13 per cent of registered electors cast an advanced ballot. Of course, the biggest turnout is expected on Election Day itself.

POLLING STATIONS

There are several polling stations throughout Pelham on Election Day, and a full list can be found at www.pelham.ca/polling-stations-2018. Voting takes place on Election Day from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Make sure you’ve got the correct identification with you and know which polling station to attend; your voter information notice will have this information.

VOTER INFORMATION NOTICE

If you have not received your voter information notice in the mail, please follow this link: www.pelham.ca/voter-information-notice. Here you will learn about the acceptable forms of identification to bring when you vote, whether or not you need your information card (you don’t – as long as you’re registered and in the right location), and how to ensure you’re on the voters’ list.

COUNTING BALLOTS

Though advanced polls are complete, no votes have been counted. All votes are counted on Oct. 22. Any online polls or suggested voter counts are unverified and unofficial (and not generated by the Town). Please note that the Municipality is the sole source of finalized votes.

Another thing to remember is that results on Election Day are unverified, and will not be verified until the following day.

ELECTION CENTRAL

On Election Day, residents, candidates and their family and friends, are welcome to join others at Election Central, hosted at the Meridian Community Centre in the Kinsmen Community Room. Election results will be displayed in the Kinsmen room shortly after 8 p.m. Doors to the room open at 7:30 p.m. The community centre is open regular hours: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.

If you’re unable to attend Election Central, or prefer the comforts of your own home, results will be posted as they come in on the Town’s website. When you visit the home page: www.pelham.ca you will be directed to the Election results; however, if you’d like to bookmark the page now, you can do so: www.pelham.ca/results.
