Meridian Community Centre sets the stage for Carousel Players “Peter Pan”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 16, 2018
Pelham, ON– Pirates. Lost Boys. A ticking crocodile. J. M. Barrie’s classic story about the boy who would not grow up comes to life at the Meridian Community Centre in Pelham on October 27, 2018, at 1 p.m.
The lively musical, produced by Carousel Players, reimagines Bat Hats Theatre’s award-winning adaptation of the classic story of Peter Pan, complete with 11 musicians/actors who perform original music, influenced by folk and jazz.
“We are thrilled to welcome this production to the Meridian Community Centre,” said Jodi Hendriks, culture and community enhancement programmer. “The opportunity to host a musical of this magnitude wasn’t something we readily had available to us in the past. With the multipurpose spaces we have in the new community centre we’re able to provide more family-friendly programming for the young and young-at-heart.”
Thanks to innovative staging, and relying on the imagination of the audience, the performers draw spectators to the world of make believe, creating magic and wonder without the use of wires or technology.
Tickets are $10 for children and $15 for adults, on sale at https://pelhampeterpan.eventbrite.com and at the door.
Peter Pan, as adapted by Bad Hats Theatre, received three Dora Mavor Moore awards and was successfully remounted at Soulpepper in 2017. With a talented cast of emerging artists and engaging acoustic music, this production explores the power of creativity and storytelling with a lively energy that will charm audiences of all ages.
