Lookout Street Temporary Roundabout Pilot Project
Over time, we have received several calls, complaints and emails pertaining to the speed on Lookout Street prompting a speed survey.
The results of that survey showed that:
AADT (Annual Average Daily Traffic)= 1223 vehicles
85th Percentile = 85km/h
Average speed = 65km/h
Another statistic that stands out is that 38% of all vehicles were travelling over 89km/h
To calm traffic, we are piloting 2 mini-roundabouts, set up at both Brewerton and Marlene Stewart Boulevard. The pilot will be temporary and removed once another round of speed data is collected.
Residents have also brought forward the possibility of speed humps such as the ones on Haist St. Speed humps have proved to be a hazard to emergency services as they cause delayed response time to emergency situations and are hazardous to EMS vehicles and snowplows.
