Donna Herrington, of the Herrington Group, briefly answered questions from Council regarding the consultation services offered to the Town. The Herrington Group has provided services to Pelham since 2003, and part of this year's proposal to ro re-audit Town facilities to ensure compliance through 2025.
Facilities were last audited from 2003-2006 and Herrington notes significant growth in Town since that time as a cause for review. She does believe much of the growth provides positive changes.
Rebuilding the Arches project gains another partner
Bill Gibson and Frank Adamson provided Council with an update on the rebuilding of the Pelham Arches project, offering up two exciting updates.
The first, is a partner in the construction of the project: students from the Niagara Launch Centre, a technological education program through the Niagara Catholic District School Board. These students are being trained in the skilled trades and will perform portions of the construction of the arches, under the supervision of their teachers.
"There's a skilled trade shortage in Canada, and if this kind of project can get these kids some hands-on experience, it's a win-win," said Mayor Marvin Junkin.
On the fundraising front, Frank Adamson reported that over $115K has been raised to date, with recent sponsors such as the Lions Club, Kinsmen, Fonthill Fire Fighters Association, and Niagara Regional Police.
The recent social held welcomed 164 people and was a rousing success for the fundraising campaign.
