Inaugural Meeting

The Town of Pelham hosted the Inaugural Meeting of the 2022-2026 Council on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Meridian Community Centre in Fonthill.

Following the Processional, led by the 613 Royal Canadian Army Cadets and Piper, the national anthem was sung by the Glynn A Green Public School Choir.

The Justice of the Peace, Bruce Phillips, administered the dedication of office for the Mayor and all ward councillors. The declaration of office was given by:

·      Marvin Junkin, Mayor

·      Kevin Ker, Ward One

·      Wayne Olson, Ward One

·      Brian Eckhardt, Ward Two

·      John Wink, Ward Two

·      Bob Hildebrandt, Ward Three

·      Shellee Niznik, Ward Three

Town of Pelham Chief Administrative Officer David Cribbs introduced the Town Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the representatives from other levels of government and school board trustees.  

Mayor Marvin Junkin gave the inaugural address, which highlighted the upcoming work of the new council. The first item to approve the 2023 budgets within the challenges brought on by inflation. Mayor Junkin highlighted opportunities for the new council to consider as they work collaboratively to create the new strategic plan for Pelham in the coming months. Throughout the address, the Mayor stressed the important role that council has in committing to making decisions that will benefit the community.  

Staff Reports for Information or Action

The Clerk’s Office provided a report for information on the selection process for Deputy Mayor to be appointed at the December 5, 2022, council meeting.
