FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 10, 2018

Pelham, ON – Residents of Pelham are being challenged to keep their community green.

From April 19-21, ‘Community Clean-up Days’, as its known in the Town of Pelham, invites students, businesses, and the community at large to keep their spaces clean and free of garbage.

Whether a business’ store front area, a school’s park, or a community area for all to enjoy, residents of Pelham are encouraged to join their friends, neighbors, and colleagues in helping keep Pelham green and beautiful, all the while getting to know their neighbors and spending time outdoors with friends.

The Town assists those taking part in the challenge by providing garbage bags, gloves, and safety vests for the duration of the clean-up.

Last year, 420 people participated, 66.75 garbage bags were filled, and 400 kg of garbage was collected. The hope is it exceed those numbers during this year’s event.

After the clean-up on Saturday, April 21, participants are invited to join us at Centennial Park for a complimentary BBQ hosted by the Fabulous Fenwick Lions.

Keeping with the Green theme, on April 27, the Town welcomes back Forests Ontario to host a community tree planting event.

From 1-3 p.m. residents and students are invited to grab a shovel and plant some trees in Centennial Park in Fenwick.

“Last year was a great year for both events, and we hope to see more people out this year,” said Jodi Hendriks, culture and community enhancement programmer. “Pelham is a beautiful town and through initiatives such as these, we hope to keep it that way for today and tomorrow’s generation.”
