Coming to the MCC: 55+ Active Living Lounge

press release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 10, 2019

Pelham, ON – The Meridian Community Centre (MCC), already a designated Seniors Active Living Centre, will soon offer a dedicated space for those 55+ in the form of an Active Living Lounge.

Located on the second floor of the MCC, the lounge will be set up in the special functions area overlooking the atrium, an entrance from the walking track providing access.

The lounge is a dedicated space available from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily for those 55 years and older and is accessible as part of a membership ($36 per year). Furniture, access to Wi-Fi, and other amenities will be offered in the space designed to encourage social interaction.

“The lounge allows our seniors a place in the community centre that is just for them,” said Julie Cook, recreation and wellness programmer. “We have several older adult programs taking place in the gym, walking track, and other areas of the MCC, and the lounge is just one more complement to our existing commitment to the 55+ crowd.”

As the Town celebrates Seniors Month, an open house will take place on Friday, June 14, from 2-4 p.m. marking the official opening of the lounge. Seniors are encouraged to come out, meet and mingle, and enjoy cake and refreshments as they familiarize themselves with the centre’s offerings and activities.  Ballots will be available for some great door prizes.
