The Pelham Garden Club, formally known as the Pelham Horticulture Society, has been in existence since 1928. The volunteer members have taken on many projects over the decades, with the Town of Pelham benefiting greatly from planting new flower beds to tree plantings. The Pelham Library, Fonthill Branch is one recipient of the Club's beautification efforts. In 2006 the Garden Club received a $500 grant from the Ontario Horticultural Association in celebration of the Town's 150th anniversary. The Club utilized the grant by designing and planting the garden seen in the above photo. Garden Club members continue to maintain the garden. The Pelham Garden Club recently designed, planted and continues to maintain the pollinator garden at the west side of the library, going up the stairs. The Town of Pelham greatly appreciates the Pelham Garden Club's labour of love as they beautify many areas throughout the Town.

The Pelham Beautification Committee would also like to acknowledge the many beautiful gardens throughout the Town. Of special interest are Cindy Palframan's gardens at the corner of Pelham and Broad Streets in Fonthill. A neighbour who frequently walks by the property suggested Cindy's gardens to the Committee. Residents are encouraged to take a drive to view the many and varied gardens now at the height of their splendour.

The Pelham Beautification Committee is an advisory committee to Pelham Council. The Committee seeks to foster civic pride, environmental responsibility, and beautification through community involvement. The monthly 'Thank You' card program is one of the Committee's efforts to inspire the Town's businesses, organizations, and residents to exemplify ideals defined in the Beautification Committee's Terms of Reference, available at www.Pelham.ca

The Pelham Beautification Committee will name a recipient each month. Individuals are encouraged to submit potential recipient recommendations to the Pelham Beautification Committee at beautification@pelham.ca
