All Town of Pelham facilities closing to the public

Pelham, ON – In an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), keeping the health and safety of Town staff and residents a priority, the Town has made the decision to close all Town facilities to the walk-in public.
The following Town facilities will be closed to the public, effective today, March 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. (unless previously closed), until further notice:
- Pelham Municipal Building - Meridian Community Centre (MCC) - Fire Hall 1, 2 and 3 |
- Old Pelham Town Hall - Pelham Libraries

Due to the closures, all programs and third-party events will be cancelled.
While Town facilities are closed to the public walk-in, Town Staff continue to be available to assist residents Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. by calling 905-892-2607. Please utilize the voice activation system to directly contact the staff member that can assist you. For a complete Town Hall contact list, visit www.pelham.ca/contactus.
Select staff are available by appointment. To conduct business at Town Hall, the Town encourages people to make contact with it by telephone or electronically. For those matters where it is impractical to do so, pre-arranged appointments can be made available. No meeting shall exceed 10 people to adhere with Provincial instructions.
CAO Cribbs commented “The foregoing measures are designed to find the best possible middle ground between protecting health and safety and carrying on with the important business of life. The Town is doing its best to maintain services and is open to receiving feedback from the public with their perspective on the adequacy of said service provision.”
There will be a special meeting of Council at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon where in it is hoped that Council will be able to approve special powers for the continued operation of the Town in these exceptional circumstances. While the meeting will be physically closed to the public, we encourage those interested to follow via livestream at www.youtube.com/townofpelham/live.
Alternative options for payment include payment through a financial institution, pre-authorized payment and cheque payment via mail. A drop box outside of Town Hall is also available to deposit cheques and documents.
The Pelham Public Library is closed but digital services are available at www.pelhamlibrary.on.ca. Digital services include e-books, e-audiobooks, magazines, music, movies and more. Please contact admin@pelhamlibrary.on.ca for assistance.
The town advises all residents to follow the advice of the Niagara Regional Public Health Unit. For residents concerned whether themselves or loved ones have the coronavirus, the Town encourages the use of the self-assessment tool found at Ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus.
