Advance polling sites opening across Niagara

Niagara voters hoping to cast their ballot before Election Day on October 22, 2018 can do so at advance polling sites.

Advance polling sites permit voters to cast their ballot regardless of their Election Day polling station as noted on voter notification card. Advance poll dates and voting options, including online and by mail, do vary based on municipality. To learn more about voting options, advance polling sites and dates in your municipality, check your voter notification card, visit niagaravotes.ca, or contact your local municipal Clerk’s office.

If you did not receive a voter information notice or card, you can contact your municipality's Clerk's office to ensure you're on the voters' list and find out where you vote at advance polls or on Election Day. In the absence of a voter information notice or card, provided you are in the correct polling location, if your name appears on the registered list, the following documents are some acceptable forms of identification:

  • Ontario driver’s licence
  • Ontario health card (if your name and address are printed on the card)
  • Mortgage, lease, or rental agreement
  • Insurance policy
  • Credit card statement
  • Bill for hydro, water, gas, telephone, internet
  • A document issued from the government of Canada, Ontario or a municipality in Ontario, or an agency from such a government
  • For a full list of acceptable ID, http://www.mah.gov.on.ca/Page18734.aspx#identification.

A Canadian passport is not an acceptable identification document because you write your address inside your passport yourself.

A reminder that voters wishing to appoint a voting proxy are encouraged to do so during the advance voting dates of your municipality to allow for the additional time required to process the proxy. To appoint a voting proxy, voters must complete the Appointment for Voting Proxy – Form 3, which can be found in the Voters Guide at niagaravotes.ca.
